Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, one of the largest cooperative banks in India, initiated a project to establish a Learning and Development Center in Jakkasandra, Bangalore. With a tight budget and a strict deadline, the project aimed to utilize smart materials that could be delivered and installed quickly. The primary material chosen for partitions and walls was polycarbonate panels, while custom-made furniture pieces were crafted using Ricron panels, enhancing both sustainability and longevity. Given that the spaces were disproportionate to the number of users, the main objective was to create flexible areas that could continuously adapt to various functions and user groups. This approach led to the design of versatile furniture pieces that can be assembled, connected, or disassembled to form new configurations for different events, such as conferences, networking sessions, and group collaborative activities.
